Meet Bertel, a personified brand concept

The brief

Bertel O. Steen is one of Norway’s leading car dealerships with over 125 years of experience dealing, financing and importing quality cars. For generations, Bertel O. Steen have delivered high-quality cars – with safety, expertise and a long-term perspective at the heart of everything they do. A concern for Bertel O. Steen was to humanize their marketing, speaking to their customers in a more jovial manner. Established in a renewed communications strategy, the goal was to emulate trust, credibility, and quality through a comprehensive marketing campaign. A new mascot, Bertel, was introduced as a friendly brand representative: sharing advice and answering all car-related concerns. The personification of Bertel O. Steen’s values aimed to overcome pain points in the customer experience, simplifying the process of car ownership, maintenance and financing.

The process

The process

After establishing personality traits, poses, and facial expressions, Bertel was developed and animated by Qvisten Animation. The use of a 3D animated character allowed numerous combinations with additional assets, enabling variations in messaging and content. A comprehensive library of 3D assets was created to accompany Bertel, allowing for year-long content and flexibility in future campaigns.
